Judy Johnson was born on March 8, 1928 in Norfolk, Virginia, USA as Betty Jane Bonney.

1941

Originally a big band vocalist under her original name Betty Bonney. Sang with the orchestras of Manny Prager, Les Brown (1941-42), Jan Savitt (1943), Jerry Wald (1943) and Frankie Carle (1944). Subsequently made several recordings for the Victor label and appeared as part of a stage show at the Copacabana in 1948. She changed her professional name to Judy Johnson in 1950.

1949

In 1949, she sang and danced on Broadway in the musical "High Button Shoes", also going on tour with the production.

1953

Toured the nightclub circuit in 1953 with a backing male group as 'Judy and Her Dates'.
