Jon Kinyon

The first CD by "The Jimi Homeless Experience" was released on the exact day of the 40th anniversary of Jimi Hendrix' first album release Are You Experienced, his Are You Homeless? features "Weird Al" Yankovic-styled parodies of some of Hendrix' biggest hits.

Jon has been working professionally in the film and television industry since 1988.

It featured cult film actress and former Penthouse Pet of the Year (1993) Julie Strain as well as actor Al Israel who is famous for his roles in Scarface, Carlito's Way and Body Double.

Jon Kinyon was born and raised in Palo Alto, CA. He has been making films since the age of 8. Once he inherited his grandfather's Super-8 film camera and editing rig, he began shooting comedy shorts with his friends. Screenings of these films were extremely popular with many of the kids in his neighborhood. He also printed up homemade comic books for his schoolmates throughout grade school and Jr. high. Jon was hugely influenced by his grandfather, Chapin Kinyon, who performed in vaudeville in Minnesota as a child and also drew comics at a young age. Another inspiration was his great-uncle Dan Glass, a young animator who worked for Fleischer Studios in NYC, he worked on early Bimbo, Koko the Clown, Popeye, and Betty Boop films. Jon has produced many short films over the years. In 2002 he wrote, produced and directed God Squad!, a comedy film which parodied Christian Films and 1970s Buddy Cop Films.

After its premiere at the Academy Award accredited Los Angeles Short Film Festival the film went on to screen at Tromadance 2003, the Backseat Film Festival and several other U. S. film festivals.

In 2005, he began working at Nickelodeon Animation Studio and moved into a Supervising Picture Editor role.

On August 23, 2007, he released a full length CD of parody songs he had written and produced, all inspired by a web-comic he had been published for more than a year.
