Quarterback on the University of Georgia's football team, 1945-1948. Was the first college player to start 4 consecutive bowl games.

1949

Played quarterback/defensive back with the NFL's New York Bulldogs/New York Yanks (1949-1951[start]) and Philadelphia Eagles (1951[end]).

1966

Head coach of the Oakland Raiders (1966-1968) and Buffalo Bills (1969-1970).

1967

Coached the Oakland Raiders to Super Bowl II - with John Madden and Bill Walsh as assistant coaches - and was named 1967 AFC coach of the year. Head coach of the Buffalo Bills and an assistant coach with Philadelphia and Atlanta.
