She is the founder and chief visionary officer of Save the Date®, a New York–based special events planning company.

Gilbert is recognized for her role on Bravo's The Real Housewives of New York City and her published memoir, I Never Promised You a Goodie Bag, published by Harper Collins.

1990

Gilbert graduated from the University of Vermont in 1990 and received a Bachelor of Science in Consumer Marketing with a minor in Business.

She attended MIT for a fellowship program called The Birthing of Giants.

After graduation, Gilbert moved to New York City.

In 1991, at the age of 22, a stranger attacked her, stabbing her 37 times with a screwdriver before leaving her for dead.
