Jeffrey Kobrin

Jeffrey B. Kobrin (born May 5, 1969) is an American Modern Orthodox rabbi, writer, and academic administrator who serves as the Rosh Yeshiva and Head of School of the North Shore Hebrew Academy.

Kobrin attended the Ramaz School in New York City and graduated from the high school in 1987.

He received bachelor's and master's degrees in English Literature from Columbia University.

Following university, he attended Yeshivat Har Etzion in Israel in 1992, where he studied under Rabbis Aharon Lichtenstein and Yehuda Amital.

He then went on to receive a PhD in English Education from Columbia University's Teachers College.

His chosen topic of study was "On the Use of Literature to Teach Morality."

Kobrin received semicha from Rabbi Zalman Nechemia Goldberg and from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary.

Kobrin worked at the Ramaz Upper School where he taught Tanakh, Halakha, and English literature.

He also served as a college advisor during this time.

Kobrin would act as the Assistant Dean of Educational Administration in the upper school, and in September 2006 he became the Headmaster of the Middle School.

In 2009, Kobrin became the principal of the North Shore Hebrew Academy Middle School, and in 2012 he was appointed to Head of School / Rosh Yeshiva.

Kobrin also took on responsibility as the Headmaster of the High School, upon the departure of Dr. Daniel J. Vitow in 2022.

Kobrin was awarded Alumnus of the Year at the 2017 Etzion Foundation Dinner.

Kobrin had a small role in Adam Sandler's 2018 comedy "The Week Of," playing the role of the eulogy-delivering Rabbi.
