Iain Cuthbertson was born on January 4, 1930 in Glasgow, Scotland.

1955

On stage from 1955, as twin brothers in the play "The Man Upstairs".

1958

Joined the Citizens Theatre in Glasgow in 1958 and became general manager in 1962 before relocating to London's Royal Court Theatre in 1965.

1975

Educated at Glasgow Academy, Aberdeen Grammar School and the University of Aberdeen. Between 1975 and 1978, he held the honorary position of Rector of the University of Aberdeen.

1980

He was an actor, known for We, the Accused (1980), Doctor Who (1963) and Scotch on the Rocks (1973). He was married to Janet Mary Smith and Anne Kristen.

1982

After he suffered a severe stroke which affected his speech in 1982, he had to give up stage acting because he was afraid that he would forget his lines. However after a break of eighteen months to recover, he was able to return to film and TV acting where retakes were possible if his memory failed him.
