He was a writer, known for Samson (1915), The Washington Masquerade (1932) and Shackles of Gold (1922). He was married to Antoinette Martin.

From 1918 to 1940 all of his plays were produced at his own Paris venue, Theatre du Gymnase and later the Theatre des Ambassadeurs. His anti-Nazi play "Elvire" ran at the latter until shortly before Paris fell to the Germans on 14 June, 1940.
