Elkhan Bashirov

Elkhan Hidayat oglu Bashirov (Elxan Bəşirov, legally Elkhan Bashirov; born May 28, 1968, Lerik) is an Azerbaijani entrepreneur, the president of Elberg Machine Building Plant, the chairman of the supervisory board of Matanat A Company, a member of the Council of Entrepreneurs under the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan (2003–2016), a member of the Public Council under the Small and Medium Business Development Agency (SMBDA) (2018–2022), the chairman of the Azerbaijan Building Materials Manufacturers Association (ABMMA), and the founder of the Academy of Research and Application of Inventions (ARAI).

Elkhan Bashirov Hidayat was born on May 28, 1968, in Lerik Region of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In 1985-1992, he studied at Azerbaijan State Polytechnic Institute, majoring in Machine-Building Technology.

Elkhan Bashirov is married, with four children.

Starting his business activity as the Founder and director of “Samira” Textile Cooperative in 1988, Elkhan Bashirov turned his enterprise into a large factory by increasing the number of his employees to 350 people within one year.

In 1992, he founded Small Enterprise EFTB and served as its director.

By applying certain technologies, he succeeded to manufacture cement-based tile adhesives and intermediate fillers for the first time in Azerbaijan, and founded Matanat A company on January 10, 2000.

Elkhan Bashirov is still working as the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the company he founded.

In the 2000s, Matanat A cement-based dry construction mixes plant was established and started to operate for the first time in the Caucasus, in order to meet the demand in the construction sector in the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Now, the company operates in 3 systems and 24 product groups, and has more than 200 trademarks and more than 1500 product ranges.

“Matanat A” Company has also made innovations in the field of gypsum-based products and founded Aghdag Plant, the first modern-type gypsum plant in the Caucasus in 2002.

The Plant is based on the advanced Grenzebach technology of Germany, the production process is controlled automatically by digital technology, and total quality control is done.

One of these inventions is the FasNatural product awarded with the National Success Award in the nomination "Invention of the Year" in 2010.

The FasNatural product is a unique hydrophobic and innovative product that replaces aglay stones and reduces the load of the facade up to 11 times compared to aglay stone slabs, and does not crack in frosty weather.

FasNatural is patented not only in Azerbaijan, but also in many leading countries of the world.

From 2010, Elkhan Bashirov is the owner of the patent granted for the invention titled The Technique of Obtaining Activated Gypsum by the State Committee for Standardisation, Metrology and Patents of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

He is also the owner of the Eurasian Patent granted by the Eurasian Patent Office of the Eurasian Patent Organization for the invention titled Dry Top Coat Decorative Mixture by the Eurasian Patent Office of the Eurasian Patent Organization.

In order to ensure the integration of innovative and technological capacities in the field of science, Elkhan Bashirov founded the Academy of Research & Application of Inventions (ARAI).

The key goal of ARAI, which is still led by him, is to explore innovations in the construction sector, to make innovative inventions, and to bring new tools and solutions to the production process.

ARAI cooperates with a number of well-known academicians and professors who have made great contributions to science.

ARAI also establishes extensive and close relations with research and development centers of the world and successfully applies this experience in the local production.

E.Bashirov finds it as a corporate citizenship responsibility to regularly support to participants of the Karabakh War, internally displaced persons, orphaned and sick children, the elderly, the disabled, low-income families, and needy people.

In 2014, the awarding of exclusively “Matanat A” Company with the state award ‘For the Application of Innovative Technologies in the Field of Manufacturing of Construction Materials’ by the Ministry of Economy & Industry was the highest award given to the company's work in the field of innovation and technological leadership.

Elkhan Bashirov is also a businessman who started several innovations in the field of construction, and the author of several inventions.

In 2016, the opening of Yeni Aghdag Gypsum Plant of “Matanat A” Company was held.

In 2020, with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev, a new more factory has started to operate with the opening of “Azerlime” Lime Plant in Gazakh Region based on the technology of the Swiss Maerz Company.

“Matanat A” Company targets to build a new plant to support the landscaping and construction works that are led by Mr. President Ilham Aliyev in the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

In 2021, “Elberg” Machine-Building Plant was opened in Hajigabul Industrial District.

The machines installed in the enterprise are made in Europe, Japan and Turkiye.

Elkhan Bashirov is a person who attaches special importance to high standards, discipline, promptness, customer satisfaction, reliability, honesty and justice.

Conducting intensive research and development works is one of his main principles of activity.

Predicating on the motto "No Compromise on Quality", he attaches importance to strict quality control of products, regular improvement works, the level of customer-oriented services and the arrangement of all these activities in accordance with ISO standards.

“Matanat A” Company is also expanding its activities in other countries.

The products manufactured by “Matanat A” Company are not only used in Azerbaijan, but are also exported to Russia, Turkey, Georgia, Uzbekistan and other foreign countries.

E. Bashirov presented the theory of construction materials production technology and the results of his scientific researches to the public as the author of 3 books, more than 15 articles, and 4 patents.

He is the author of the monograph titled “Increasing the Efficiency by Activating Dry Construction Mixtures Components” (for scientific and scientific-pedagogical training of human resources).

Elkhan Bashirov always shows great interest in the application of new smart and nano technologies and scientific achievements in the production process in the company he leads.

Nanotechnologies have been first applied in “Matanat A” Ccompany in the field of construction materials production in Azerbaijan, and thanks to these technologies, it has been achieved to influence the smallest atomic particles of additives in products.

The Company applies the Green Technology, known as the "world saving" technology, in its manufacturing processes.

Moreover, it has been a few years now that the Company has shifted to the fully robotic manufacturing process with the application of the SMART Technology, and is strengthening its technological leadership in this sector.
