Timeline

1958

Edi Gümüş (born 1958 in Aksu, Turkey) is a Kurdish former militant.

He was an assistant of Hüseyin Velioğlu, the founding leader of the Kurdish Hezbollah.

2000

On January 17, 2000, he was caught and detained during an operation carried out by the police at a villa in Beykoz, which resulted in Velioğlu's death.

At the hearing held with the 23 defendants tried in the Kurdish Hezbollah main case, 16 people, including Edip Gümüş, were sentenced to life imprisonment.

2011

23 members of Hezbollah, who were arrested on the grounds that they were allegedly engaged in militant activities, were released on January 4, 2011, in line with the draft amendment in the Turkish Penal Code that limits the period of detention without a court order to 10 years.

However, the Kurdish Hezbollah members who did not return to the police station within the scope of judicial control went missing.

After Hüseyin Velioğlu, the founder of the community, died in the Beykoz raid, Edip Gümüş, the second man of the community, was accused of being the leader of the Kurdish Hezbollah.

2015

He has been in the red category of the "most wanted terrorists" list published by the Ministry of the Interior since October 28, 2015.

The Ministry announced that it will give a reward of up to 10 million lira to the person or persons who catch him or provide information that will help him be caught.
