Clive Dunn was born on January 9, 1920 in Brixton, London, England as Clive Robert Benjamin Dunn.

1930

In his memoirs, "Permission to Speak", he described how he embraced fascism briefly while at a public school in the 1930s. Like many of his friends, he joined Sir Oswald Mosley's British Union of Fascists because "it seemed patriotic". He later rejected them once he detected their anti-Semitism.

1968

He was an actor and writer, known for Dad's Army (1968), The Avengers (1961) and Dad's Army (1971). He was married to Priscilla Morgan and Patricia Kenyon.

1975

He was awarded an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the 1975 Queen's Birthday Honours List for his services to drama.
