Bruce Edward Morrow was born on July 25, 1940, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, USA. He attended Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University) in Springfield, then earned his Master's Degree in Journalism from the University of Iowa in Iowa City. He worked as a disc jockey in Los Angeles before relocating to the Washington, D. C.

Upon his retirement from the VOA in 1990, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a full-time acting career. He had a busy career in L. A. , doing television and radio commercials, and making several supporting appearances in films and TV. His last work was a recurring role in the popular sitcom "3rd Rock From the Sun" as Father Rice; he made four appearances as this character, the last one in the episode "Proud Dick" (#2.
