Infielder (primarily at second base) with the Cincinnati Reds (1913-1914), Philadelphia Phillies (1915-1917), St. Louis Cardinals (1918[start]), and New York Giants (1918[end]).

In 1916 led National League hitters in doubles (42).

1918

His playing career ended 31 May 1918 owing to an injury. Playing at second base for the New York Giants, he collided with outfielder Ross Youngs while chasing a pop-fly. His right leg was broken below the knee.

1943

Following his playing career, he was a longtime minor league manager (including two seasons in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League [1943-1944]) and major league scout.
