1914

American-born, of German-Jewish background. He was brought up in Germany and studied medicine at the University of Munich. Practised as a doctor, before entering films in 1914 as writer/director. Best known for the nightmarish Schatten - Eine nächtliche Halluzination (1923), an early masterpiece of German expressionist cinema.

1916

He joined the film business in the middle of the 10s and he wrote the screenplay "Die Frau mit den zwei Seelen" (1916). For his next movie "Nächte des Grauens" (1916) he was not only responsible as a screenwriter but he was also the director of it. It followed a longer interruption before he continued his film career in the 20s.

1929

Arthur Robison was engaged as a director for several international productions. To these works belong the English production "The Informer" (1929) and the French versions of US movies like "Soyons gais" (1930) and 'Quand on est belle" (1932).

1934

Arthur Robison returned to Europe where he directed the movies "Fürst Woronzeff" (1934) and "Der Student von Prag" (1935) with Conrad Veidt.
