Alexander P. Babyonyshev (Александр Петрович Бабёнышев; pseudonym Sergei Maksudov Сергей Максудов; March 10, 1938, Rostov-on-Don) is a Russian geologist, historian, demographer, a sociologist.

He is a well-known specialist in the study of the loss of the Soviet population.

1960

In the years 1960–1970 participated in the human rights movement in the USSR.

He speaks out in defense of Andrei Sinyavsky and Yuli Daniel.

To protest against the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia (distributed leaflets), has signed a letter of protest against the expulsion of Solzhenitsyn.
