Born in Glenmore, Banyuwangi, East Java, he has been playing badminton since he was 10 years old in a club named Suryanaga Gudang Garam Surabaya.

On 16 October 2021, Yulianto married Freeisy Ester Sompie, also an Indonesian badminton player.

Their holy matrimony was held at GMIM Sion Tumaluntung, North Minahasa.

Yulianto is a men's doubles specialist.
